1992

November 27, 1992

Dear Family & Friends,

I decided to write this letter earlier than normal (by about four
weeks)because Suzanne provided me with this great opportunity by
taking all three kids to "Home Alone 2". (Last year I took the
kids to "Beauty and the Beast" which completed my kid-moviegoing
obligations until I have grandchildren.) Unfortunately, it was
so quiet I couldn't work and now everyone is home again.

The kids are just outside of my basement office "helping" their
Mom wrap Christmas and birthday presents. It would appear from
the sounds of it that Stephen is getting the worst of it:
Christie has been trying to hit him with a stick and Nicole is
calling him a "dummo" and just poked him in the eye.

Stephen will be 8 in December. He is in Second grade and seems
to enjoy school most of the time. He played soccer in the spring
and fall and "baseball" in the spring. The baseball program was
basically teaching the kids which direction to run if they
actually hit the ball and as a spectator sport was way behind
soccer for viewing enjoyment. He has his Mom's math ability and
enjoys making inventions with milk cartons, paper towel tubes and
scotch tape. His bee-catching machine is a classic.

Nicole will be 5 in December. She goes to pre-school 5 days a
week since we won't let her go to high school yet. I think Nicole
is the kind of individual that, when she grows up, it will be
hard for people to imagine her as a little girl. She is
sensitive, shy and very strong-willed. She loves to work on her
art proj ects and do acrobatics on the jungle gym. She is very
athletic, but has no interest in sports because she "doesn't want
to sweat".

Christie will be 3 in December. She gladly goes to pre-school
twice a week. She seems to know all the kids and teachers by
name and is extremely gregarious. She has an amazingly broad
range of interests all of which involve messing up the house and
she likes to stay up till midnight so she can get a full day's
work in. She's just like her Mom.

Suzanne has done an amazing job of keeping track of everyone's
activities (she prepares a weekly schedule of who goes where, who
needs lunch, snack, etc.), buying all the gifts and organizing
all the parties, while staying active in the PTA, the Church
(where she is President of the Trustees) and practicing law
full time.

I continue to commute to Phoenix, but have been able to do more
and more from my home office. It has now been four years since
we bought Engine Supply. We have survived some real tough times
and 1993 looks promising.

We hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season.
